Aishet Chayil is a special tribute to the Jewish woman. This song, written by King Solomon, sings the praises of the “woman of valor,” in praise of  female who is capable of so many things; a loving mother, an industrious housewife, a shrewd businesswoman, an enterprising trader, a generous benefactor (verse 20) and a wise teacher (verse 26).

For the background behind this piece, read below:

As a feminist who proudly embraces both her Jewish identity and womanhood, I was always coming across the idea that women should remain meek, modest, and concealed from the world’s view.

However, my perspective underwent a powerful transformation when I came across King Solomon’s remarkable poem. To my astonishment, it portrayed a woman who defied conventional expectations.

In King Solomon’s verses, this extraordinary woman emerged as a loving mother (verse 15), an industrious housewife (verse 13), a shrewd businesswoman (verse 14), an enterprising trader (verse 24), a generous benefactor (verse 20), and a wise teacher (verse 26). These descriptions shattered the notion that women should merely be seen and not heard. It was 2020, and I realized I needed a daily reminder of this resilient, capable, and confident woman in my life.

Driven by this newfound inspiration, I embarked on designing the Eishes Chayil – a symbol of strength and empowerment for the modern woman. This exquisite piece, crafted with love and dedication, stands proudly on my mantlepiece, representing the embodiment of a strong and capable woman.

With every glance, the Eishes Chayil reminds me to embrace my true self, free from society’s limiting beliefs. It serves as a beacon of empowerment, encouraging me to fearlessly embrace my multi faceted roles. (I even recorded a podcast on the topic!)

By placing this meaningful creation into the world, I hope to inspire other women to celebrate their multifaceted identities, unapologetically breaking barriers and thriving in every sphere of life. Together, let us redefine the perception of women and champion the essence of an Eishes Chayil – a woman of valor, strength, and unwavering confidence.

Thank you to @tobi_rubinstein, because if not for her, I would never have got around to sharing my design with the public!)
